We kicked off Open Week in grand style on Sunday 8th April with an awe-inspiring display of skill from World Trick Shot Champion, Paul Barrington. He demonstrated long drives off his knees, hitting drivers off a brick (and a mobile phone?!) and kept the crowd entertained with his amusing view of amateur golf. The shot of the day was possibly him hitting a ball full blast through a panel of chipboard. The crowd we relieved it went through and didn't ricochet back to them!

James Heath then threw down the gauntlet to all-comers in the Beat the Pro/Hole in One competition over the treacherous 12th Hole at Augusta replica. It was a fitting way to mark the last day of the Masters Tournament taking place over the Easter Weekend. The hopefuls (or not-so-hopefuls when they stood on the tee and saw the lake) battled with James all afternoon. He was only beaten twice, the first by 4 handicapper Stuart Kinge who was the first of 95 people who had a go.

Special mentions also go to Christopher, Robert and Amit who all beat the pro in the chipping competition alongside. Potential stars in the making? TV crews from ITV and Sky Sports covered the day and hopefully their coverage will encourage more kids to come and have a go this week.

Over a hundred kids have now signed up for the Search for a Star campaign which runs from Monday 9th April to Saturday 14th when the winners of the 10 Scholarships will be announced.
